Good - 5-10 mins walk from Shimbashi station Many local eateries within walking distance Lawson, Family Mart, 711 within walking distance In between Shimbashi and Ginza, enjoy the best of both worlds Rooms are considered big by Tokyo standards Daily housekeeping Affordable local food at basement of Shimbashi station & Ginza 9 Not so good - No bottled water provided

A hotel to avoid at all cost

Our agent booked the Ginza Grand Hotel as part of a package. I visited the website and the photos of the rooms on that site bore no resemblance to the room provided to us. The hotel is conveniently located, the wireless internet worked well, and the air conditioning was satisfactory. But that is where it ended. The room was very small; indeed, two people could not pass each other in any part of the room. The bed was set against the wall as there was insufficient space. My wife had to crawl from the foot of the bed to get into the bed go to sleep There were no storage facilities for luggage, there was no closet, no chest of draws a bedside table accommodated a phone and a light. However, there was a small coat rack in the entry hall with four hangers attached to hang-up clothing. The refrigerator did not work, it was not possible to chill drinks or food. There was no room safe. The bathroom was very small. Two people could not enter this facility at the same time. The carpets are old and stained, they need to be replaced. One of the only two pillows provided (no spares) seemed to be filled with beads, this made it impossible to sleep on. On day two I informed the desk of this problem and asked for a replacement. I was informed that all the pillows were the same. I protested that they were not the same. Upon return on at 8pm on the second day the pillow had not been changed, I took it to the front desk and demanded that it be changed. This hotel is the worst place that I have ever stayed in. The room we had might have passed as a very small single bedroom but it is definitely not a double room. Our luggage had to be set against the wall near the window as there was no suitable location to store it. There was a luggage stand in the hallway but if you put a suitcase on it emergency access/egress would have been severely restricted in event of an emergency. The room was a joke. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hotel is in a perfect location. Very close to the Ginza line subway stop plus the JR lines. It’s a short walk from the glitz and glamour of Ginza’s designer label stores, fashionable restaurants and bars - if that’s your thing - and close to authentic, unpretentious food stalls and restaurants, which is more of what we like. Be aware that some of the rooms are tiny. We had a triple superior room and, for Tokyo, the size was excellent, with a great bathroom. No complaints about our room. Consider paying more for a larger room if a small one is going to be an issue. If breakfast is important to you perhaps consider the restaurant buffet as breakfast cafes were not easy to find. We ended up visiting the Family Mart each day instead for pasties, sushi, yoghurt. We had little to do with reception apart from initial check/in which was fine. Room staff were lovely. We loved our stay here - a great location in a reputable area without a hefty price tag made it perfect for us.

Awful - stay away from this place

Tokyo was quite full on the dates of our trip so we had to stay at this hotel. Probably the worst hotel experience ever. Reception staff were unfriendly, abrupt and seemed like they were working in a factory and not a service oriented business. We arrived at 2.15 pm and were told that our room was ready but that check-in was at 3 pm. If we wanted the room inmediately, we needed to pay an extra 9 USD!!! Otherwise, we would have to wait in the lobby until 3 pm. The most absurd service UNfriendly incident I have encountered. The room was minuscule. They call it a double room but one side of the bed has no bedside table and is up against a wall. If you have two large suitcases, you will barely be able to walk around the room. The worst part was the state of the carpet. Full of stains which really kept us from walking barefoot. Disgusting! See the attached photos. My recommendation? If Tokyo is full, change your travel dates but DON'T stay in this awful hotel.

Great location in Ginza close to Shimbashi station. A lot of restaurants within a 10-15 minute walk. Though some coffee shops in the area don't open until 9 am. Several 7-Elevens and Family Marts in the area. Room is as small as expected/normal for Japan. Two people fit but there's little to no space for working on a laptop. The room was crowded even with two carry on suitcases. I imagine two full size suitcases would be difficult in terms of having space. Light bulbs in the room are fairly dim which results in the room not having much light. Half the rooms face the inside of the building's "V" shape and have no direct sunlight. Bathroom is nice. Typical hotel amenities are provided in the room and in the lobby. On the lobby level is a lounge for guests which is a good place to relax since the rooms don't have much lighting or space. No drinks or food in the lounge, it's just open tables and chairs. Floor 11 has a single small microwave available. No machine laundry in the hotel for guests contrary to the signs posted. Staff understand English without issue.
